Con Spirito String Quartet
Con Spirito String Quartet was formed in 1990 by Helen Fitzgerald. All the players are graduates of Birmingham Conservatoire. This extremely versatile and talented quartet have toured with American Rock Group Meatloaf, Roger Daltry, Alice Cooper, Gary Brooker, Rod Argent, Colin Blunstone and Barry Manilow. In November 2001, Helen worked in New York with top DJs and singer Mary J Blige for a high profile fashion show, for which she was responsible for string arrangements.
For the past four years they have worked on a regular basis with Chris de Burgh, regularly touring and recording two albums with him.
They embrace an extremely wide repertoire not only the classics and light classical but right across the board, one of the few ensembles to include such modern icons as Sinatra, Dean Martin, Chris de Burgh, Beatles, Abba, Queen, Meatloaf, Film and show music.
At Christmas Con Spirito String Q uartet perform a seasonal programme combined with classical repertoire and can augment with a female singer and indeed a keyboard player.
They have performed on both television and radio. Broadcasts and engagements recently have included the launch of The Eurovision Song Contest, The G8 Summit of World Leaders, The UNESCO Gala in Dusseldorf and the AXA Final Ball at Wembley Stadium.
They are in great demand in the corporate market and provide a very varied and fun programme of music.
