Joe Simpson has drawn from his experiences as one of the world's most successful and respected mountaineers to become a leading author. He now brings his knowledge and powerful stories to the corporate sector in an amazingly inspirational presentation that can be tailored to provide relevance and motivation for virtually every type of business audience. Following the sale of the movie rights of Touching the Void to Tom Cruise's and Sally Field's movie companies, the rights to a 90 minute drama documentary have been sold to the independent producers Darlow Smithson, working for Pathé and Film Four. It will be marketed world wide on both terrestrial and satellite channels. The film will be in cinemas from December 2003.

Latest Book, “The Beckoning Silence”, published January 2002. 'Touching the Void', the best-seller translated into 14 languages, winner of the Boardman Tasker Prize 1988, NCR Non fiction Award 1989, Deutches Literaturpries 1990, and Premio del libro do Montagna 1993.
Also author of the novel 'The Water People' and non-fiction works 'This Game of Ghosts', 'Storms of Silence' and 'Dark Shadows Falling'. To date all his books have been short-listed for the Boardman Tasker Prize.

Joe Simpson - Mountaineer
Member of the Alpine Climbing Group (ACG) of the Alpine Club.
Extensive Alpine style mountaineering throughout the world including expeditions to Peru, Ecuador, Africa, India, Bolivia, Pakistan, Nepal and the European Alps. Ascents include 1st ascents of West Face Siula Grande (6356m), North Spur Ranrapalca (6162m), West Face Pachermo (6200m). Also Diamond Couloir Mt. Kenya, Ama Dablam SW Ridge, Walker Spur, North Face Matterhorn, Dru Couloir, North Face Droites (winter). - Guided clients for the Sheffield based trekking company High Places in Africa, Peru, Nepal, Bolivia and Ecuador.
Currently receives un-contracted sponsorship in the form of equipment from Berghaus, Buffalo, Olympus, Nordic Track, DMM & Terra Nova.

Joe Simpson - Public Speaker
Joe Simpson has developed a reputation on the speaking circuit, which is second to none. Having spoken to a wide variety of audiences of varying nationalities, Joe has consistently exceeded all expectations. His presentation is supported by an "all action" introduction video and stunning photography.

He was named Speaker of the Year in 2003.
