the beginning
of Commercial
radio. BRMB
was the first
English station
outside of
London
(opened 1974)
In 1982 Ed
joined BBC
RadioWM and
then in 1988
he did his
six days a
week political
consumer affairs
– current
affairs programme.
Both the “Ed
Doolan Show”
and “Ed
Doolan Sunday”
were adopted
by BBC Radio
Coventry and
Warwickshire
in 1996.
The series
is approaching
the 1300 programme,
pioneering
social action
broadcasting
and tackling
dishonest
and cavalier
traders on
behalf of
the consumer.
He also takes
on the big
utilities,
the councils
of the West
Midlands and
areas of national
government
if it is felt
an injustice
has been done.
Over the
years he has
helped thousands
to unburden
themselves.
He has interviewed
national and
world leaders
including
HRH The Princess
Royal, six
UK Prime Ministers,
Nelson Mandela,
and most front
bench members.
For the past
eight years
he has been
the market
leader in
the West Midlands
achieving
the highest
listening
figures over
a 22 station,
music dominated
market with
all-speech
programming.
