Norman Phillips Organisation CONRAD HUMPHREYS Biography

CONRAD HUMPHREYS

CONRAD HUMPHREYS

At 28, Conrad Humphreys has crammed a lifetime of adventure and achievement into his life. In skippering the 72 foot, steel-hulled ‘LG Flatron’ to overall victory in the 2001 BT Global Challenge; the toughest round-the-world team yacht race, Conrad has established himself as one of Britain’s hottest sailing talents.

From day one of the race, Conrad cultivated a winning attitude on board the Flatron, creating a strong cornerstone of positivity upon which to build his crew’s long and arduous campaign. “Winning is infectious” and “self belief is everything” were the driving philosophies.

Such a positive approach was always going to yield results. After more than ten months at sea, and having endured some of the most hostile conditions on Earth. Conrad’s leadership and motivational talents transformed a disparate band of volunteer sailors into a formidable, world-beating yachting crew.

Conrad believes that the skills needed to lead a team through the extremes of the world’s oceans can readily be translated to the business arena. And, having conquered one of the toughest leadership challenges going, few could argue with his track record.

Conrad presents his insights into team building in an accessible and enjoyable way. From sharing ideas about the value of adventure in inspiring leadership and teamwork, to the essentials of preparation, professionalism and positivity, he knows how to get the most from teams. He gives practical examples of how adopting a followship culture - where crew members recognise that they are all leaders with key strengths and a direct contribution to make – have yielded incredible successes for him, and how these can work for you.

Helping ordinary people achieve extraordinary things is a passion for Conrad Humphreys. If you’re looking to harness all the potential that your team can offer, Conrad can help you tap into these strengths and get leagues ahead of your competition.

“Conrad gave a very effective, thought provoking presentation on the challenges faced by his team and the leadership style necessary to achieve results and bring the crew through their adventure to ultimately win the world’s toughest yacht race. Highly recommended”
Frank Stone, Head of Communications BTexact Technologies

“As a business leader it is rare to hear about an experience which offers not only a wealth of learning and insight but manages to reach each listener in a uniquely personal way. Conrad Humphreys is a joy and inspiration to listen to. It was a privilege to hear him speak.”
Hanif Lalani, Chief Executive BT Northern Ireland

“Conrad is able to highlight teamwork and leadership ideas which can be built into winning strategies applicable to any field or venture.”
Julie Hoornweg OOF ASM, England National Netball Coach
