Aventurers and Explorers - Ann Daniels
Polar Explorer Ann Daniels was born 24th July 1964. She lives in Somerset and is separated with ten year old triplets and their younger sister.
1997-2000 Ann was selected to take part in the first all female expedition to The North Pole, in which five teams of four women, together with two guides, skied in a relay format across the Arctic Ocean to reach The North Pole. The group had to pull heavy sledges over enormous pressure ridges, open water and drifting ice. Dealing with the hazards of the arctic was the ultimate test in teamwork but which resulted in a triumphant conclusion.
1998 - 2000 Organised, publicised and took part with 4 others, in an expedition to the South Pole. Ann personally promoted the expedition to company directors with a view to raising sponsorship monies and successfully funded the entire trip. They chose, tested and modified clothing and equipment for a number of companies. They travelled with 140lb sledges over 400 miles becoming the first British Women to reach the South Pole. Ann has regularly spoken in front of a live audience and since 1997 Ann has presented Talks, After Dinner Speeches and Motivational and Team Building Presentations on her experiences in the South Pole. She has also appeared on a number of TV and Radio Shows including the Disney Show and GMTV.
