20-30s Bands and Singers
Sandwiched between the First and Second World Wars, the roaring 20s and elegant 30s was a time when people were keen to banish the austerity of wartime and replace it with an explosion of exuberance and indulgence.
The Charleston was all the rage and the 'swells' were quite literally 'Putting on the Ritz' and the order of the day was 'Let's Face the Music and Dance'. Style was in, and in a BIG way with 'The Black Bottom' and the Shimmy' resplendent with fluffy ostrich plumes, strings of pearls, straw boaters, white ties and tails.
It's not difficult to see why the period is so highly revered as a monumental musical age, after all it gave us Ragtime, Palm Court, Gershwin and Irving Berlin and if you want to recreate the opulence and elegance of a truly golden era for your guests then look no further than the Norman Phillips Organisation
